Nutella Hot Chocolate :: A Recipe ::

Quite by accident, at the weekend, Milo and I discovered you can make fabulous hot chocolate with Nutella! What we were actually making was a sauce for our ice cream, but added a little too much milk. It was still delicious and we poured it willingly over the ice cream, but decided if we added just a bit more milk we could have a delicious hot drink.

Nutella Hot Chocolate Recipe

So on Sunday that was exactly what we did, we took 3 simple ingredients, topped with marshmallows and snuggled up on the sofa to enjoy.

This is such a simple way to make hot chocolate, if you fancy having a go yourself, I've shared the recipe below.

Angel Delight Shortbread :: A Recipe ::

When I was a kid my sister and I adored Angel Delight, I think one of the things we really loved was that we were able to make it ourselves. Kids love to cook generally and love the independence of being able to do it by themselves. Milo has since inherited this same love and proudly measures out the milk, adds the packet, whisks the mix, carefully pours it into single serving bowls and pops it in the fridge. It's so quick and easy making it a fabulous school day pudding.

When I saw the Britmum's Angel Delight linky challenge celebrating the new bubblegum flavour we were eager to try it out. So I gave Milo the responsibility of preparing Thursday nights pudding, he did a fabulous job and we all enjoyed the results.

However I wanted to try out something else. I have really fond memories of strawberry shortbread my Mum would make when I was a kid, which she would flavour with blancmange mix. This got me thinking about how interesting bubblegum flavoured shortbread would be. So I sent my Mum off to rummage through her old recipe books and adjusted her original recipe to see if I could make Angel Delight Shortbread

I was so impressed with the results, you could of course use any of the Angel Delight flavours for this recipe, but we are particularly fond of the bubblegum variety.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Sorbet :: A Recipe ::

For Easter weekend we headed down to Johnny's grandparents house, which has become so much of a tradition, Milo considers this trip 'going to Easter'.  Whilst there, among all the many wonderful dishes and copious amounts of chocolate on offer, we sampled some rhubarb sorbet, created by Johnny's Grandpa.  I couldn't believe how delicious it was.  It had such a sweet flavour that I can't quite put my finger on, but ever since then I've been dreaming of attempting my own version.

So when my lovely next door neighbour presented me with 2 sticks of rhubarb last week,  it seemed like the perfect time to have a go, I already had half a punnet of strawberries sitting in my fridge, so I figured this classic combination seemed too good to miss.

I'm so pleased with how this turned out, adding the strawberries really brings it together I think. I'm especially grateful for this taste of summer on a dull, grey, rainy day like today!
I don't have an ice cream machine, so this recipe assumes you don't either, though if you do I'm sure it's fairly simple to make that work too.
